Someone doesn’t have a criminal record but his file is with the police as they have his fingerprints and DNA.

Does he need to mention it if he goes for a sensible job?

  1. No many companies require both fingerprints and DNA for employment and this information is given to the government for exclusionary purposes. For instance if a police officer was working on a crime scene - they can eliminate his fingerprints (as opposed to the criminals ones) easily. Some jobs require it for other purposes. It also could easily be he was arrested on some charge but was not convicted of it. A good lawyer can get that taken off your record as if it never existed.
