  1. Try a PVC insulated aluminum armored cable, the size varies.

So make sure you check with your local hardware store.

  2. Assuming the terminal voltage is 220 Volts, line current is 1312 amperes. Using type THW copper insulated wire rated at 75 deg C in conduit pipes, you will need 4- 500 MCM copper insulated wires per pase or 12 wires in all, since this wire is rated only 330 ampers when installed in conduit pipes. If your terminal voltage is 440, you can reduce the number of wires by half.

  3. Is this a test question or are you really installing a 500KVA generator?

If it is a test question, we need a lot more information. What type of wire, what size/type of conduit, how far does it have to go, etc.?

If you are really installing this, call a commercial electrician.

  4. Get a good electrician to do this for you, this can be dangerous.

For one thing, most generators this size are 3 phase, which cuts down on the current per wire.
