Hi, I'm looking to come to Canada from Australia in the next year or so on a 2 year working holiday visa, and am thinking about Halifax, NS. But I'd really like to have a comprehensive view of each province and city - Could anyone provide a run-down of each province and city for me? Cheers!

  1. All the Provinces have inividual websites which will provide you with all the info you need, Government of canada web site has a National job bank link to check jobs all over. To try to tell you even a little about each province could take pages as there is good and bad for all areas, weather, crime, housing, jobs, etc. Halifax is a nice place to start because within a 4-5 hour drive you can take in parts of New Brunswick, Prince Edward island and the ferry to Newfoundland. 10 hour drive to historic Quebec City, 12 1/2 to Montreal, another 2 to Ottawa. I could go on but you get the picture, Canada is huge, areas differ geographically, culturally, economically. Seriously , check out individual Provinces' websites for places to see and things to do and enjoy your stay. I've lived and trucked in every Province in canada including our Far North so feel free to e-mail me from my profile and I can help you out some.

See, Canadians really ARE nice people, willing to help a total stranger.

This is not at all unusual. As a matter of fact, its normal in Canada.

Here is a link to a  website for newcomers to Canada.

  3. i very rarely recommend wikipedia because it usually sucks and is incorrect but in this case I would say check it out for detailed info.

I can tell you right now Alberta is the best place to move.  They are in the middle of a HUGE economic boom so there are so many jobs that pay a LOT.  Housing is a bit more expensive but still cheaper than toronto.  I would not recommend toronto, it's nice to visit but ontario really does suck now a days (I live in ontario).  There are no jobs, there's no real money to be made.  The only bonus is you can usually cross into the US for cheap shopping very quickly.

The east coast is nice (Nova Scotia and New Brunswick) but again, jobs are not booming there.  If you can find something there I'd take it though.  It is a GORGEOUS area to live, and people there are so laid back and easy going.

Hope this helps a little bit. Contact me through my profile if you have any more questions. I'd love to help ya
