Best anti virus :Mcafee

Best fire wall:Bit defender

I would suggest Kaspersky internet security. Firewall antivirus etc all built into it. Meaning there is no need to have nay more security programs. Although the new Norton Internet Security 2009 is very good and MUCH lighter than previous versions. Its still in beta but I think its coming out in september.

Hi

There's really no one "best" product. Most of the products you mentioned are very good. You could use any of those antiviruses. For firewall Online Armor and Sunbelt are also good choices. I think Spyware Terminator is not such a great choice and Superantispyware and Malwarebytes Antimalware are the best.

If by best it means excellent detection and removal rate, passed firewall leak test results, low on memory usage and less compatibility issues then:

antivirus - Avira antivir premium (has excellent AV engine with excellent heuristics)

firewall - outpost firewall pro (currently no.1 on matousec firewall tests, low on resource and less nags/asking of allow/deny)

spyware removal - spyware doctor (one of the best antispyware engines with excellent detection and less false positives)
