A Busy City

Shadows creep over the sidewalk

A sea of signs and symbols.

A color revolution.

Consuming the night’s darkness.

Mystirose,

Lightpink,

Thistle,

Ivory,

Lightsteelblue.

Colors from the

Blurry, flat

Lights.

Shining like the stars.

Pouring rain.

Drops of water on the windows.

Pouring rain.

Drops of water on the people.

Dark silhouettes.

Indefinable shapes.

Mixture of shadows.

The city is dead.

An explosion of feelings.

A color revolution.

Very nice! I think the true tests of a good poem are the images and feelings it evokes to which you did not allude. When I read it I can hear broken chatter from people around me, feel the humidity, smell the rain as the mist rises off of the street. It's refreshing to read good free verse in a world with an awful lot of "pretend free verse".
