Before I Was Me

Before I was me you held my hand and guided me,

Giving me the wings to set me free.

Before I was me you taught me,

The difference between what's right,

And what's wrong.

Before I took that leap, you held me in your arms.

Giving me the strength to go forth in this world,

And the courage to stand on my own,

Before I took that leap you gave me the wisdom,

To see the potential in myself.

Before I flew on my own you whispered words of love,

Building the character in which makes me, me.

Before I flew on my own you taught me to hope,

And chase each and every dream.

Before I was me you held me gently in your arms,

Wrapping me close to your heart,

Guiding me.

Before I was me you gave me your love,

Turning a once baby into a young lady,

With just a simple promise from the heart.

Thanks for reading!!!!
