I am 17. I have enough money for an older boat, or a newer jet ski.

I don't have any friends to have to bring along (LOL...it's true and I'm happiest being anti social).

So I was leaning towards Jet Ski. But I was wondering if I missed a major con somewhere seeing as theyre so much cheaper than a boat.

I live on a lakefront house in TX.

  1. Jet skis are mostly annoying.

You can boat year-round.  And at night.

If it's lake Lewisville, you'll want to stay off the lake most of the summer anyway (unless you also have a death wish).  :D

There is a guy on Lake Ray Hubbard fishes from a jetski sometimes.

  2. Boats are great if you have few people, or you want to go fishing, etc.

But otherwise Jet ski is much more fun (but much more dangerous).

They are cheaper because they are smaller and less useful.

    good luck...

  3. I have had both when I was young like you, bought a jet ski, it was great fun, but moved to a boat because I found a girlfriend and late nights on the water are the way to go. You cannot have a jet ski out at night because you MUST have the bow & stern lights on when you are on the water.

    Good LUCK

  4. I have both a jet ski and a boat.  The jet ski is great for spending a day having fun and racing other people. Racing is a good way to meet people or make them mad dependig how bad you beat them.  If you are truly happy being antisocial either watercraft will do.  Just because you have room for others does not mean they have to join you.  Take the boat out fishing by yourself.  Chill out and enjoy the day.  When you feel like running it full out around the lake you can put a little spice in your day.  However, if it ain't a speed boat, there is more excitement on the jet ski.
