List any suggestions for getting the most out of an Alaskan cruisetour without blowing the budget (most likely on Princess). Thanks.

  1. Out of Skagway, the White Pass & Yukon rail excursion.  Can be done in one day and many cruises stop in Skagway.  Great trip!!

  2. That is kind of hard to answer, it really depends on which ports you will be in. Each offer something a little different, and also what you consider to be a good value. For example, some of my favorite excursions are the train tours, glacier tours, whale watching, etc. I think these are all great values, but run more than $100, so I'm not sure if that would be in your budget.

I've included a link to Princess' site where you can look over the excursions for each port, it lists info on the excursion, any limitations and how much they cost. That is where you are going to find the most information. You can find the excursion info on each of the cruise lines website, that is what I would recommend doing.

  3. If you end up in Whittier, my suggestion is either take the train to Anchorage and from there you can pick up a lot of tours or even a rental car. A website that I'd suggest is www.AskAboutAlaska.com which has some pre & post tour options in Alaska.

  4. don't use the ones that the cruise sells on board they are overpriced. Go out on your own and find tours. in most port towns they are not hard to find.

  5. i think it best to check things out on your own there are a lot of inexpensive things to do out there just do some home work and you will be a winner.good luck and enjoy your cruise.
