We live in a snowy/hilly area. They need this for only 14 months till college. We have a Honda 2003 Van that we could trade. They didn't like small cars--no room for their gym bags. They have $3000 to put down and are willing to pay gas by working part time. They want hi-gas mileage but I want safety. What is the best value? Should we buy used? They liked the new RAV4 but will consider CRV or any other. We bought a nice BMW for our first son and it spoiled him. So we want something simple and possibly available today at low cost. They will probably drive about 1000 miles per month-- and don't forget I am talking about the twin joy of my life!
