  1. Then you don't want true surround sound. You want virtual (not nearly as good but you might like it). Two that you can try are

    Philips SoundBar HTS8100 (around $600)

    Cambridge SoundWorks SurroundWorks 200 ($1,000)

Neither sounds great but for the price they aren't horrible. There are better ones in the $1500 range but even those aren't as good as real surround.

  2. Go to the comet website

www.comet.co.uk and type the following in the comet search field top right ...........PHILIPS HTS6510/05...... this a  2.1 surround 2 speakers and a sub for £219.99 not very expensive and good quality if your on a tight budget.

or you can have a look at richersounds.co.uk under home cinema section and click the separates they have a samsung receiver and yamaha speaker package for £149 really good value for money all you need is a dvd player if you dont have a dvd player there is some they sell starting at only £29.99. you do get  5 speakers and a sub but simply wire up the ones you require ..2 speakers and the sub you could use the centre if possible just pop it under the tv if you have the space. either way it still cost you £180 with dvd.

    All the Best

  3. Onkyo HT-SR800 at circuit city for $429.99 has everything you are looking for in a reciver
