  1. Carlo Rossi(Pisono)

  2. rioja,Campo Viejo 2000 it's greta and cheap enjoy

  3. California wines are best.  Try MONDAVI Cabernet, Merlot or Zinfandel

  4. Try a shiraz from Australian winemaker Peter Lehman. He is the master at producing great wines at amazing prices ( around $15-$20 ).

If you cannot find his wine in the wineshop you should try a Californian Zinfandel with an alcohol precentage of around 14. It pairs with the steak perfectly. There are many good Californian Zins just ask in the store for a reputible one for around $20.

  5. It's not expensive, but Riunite Lambrusco is fantastic. You cannot go wrong with it. It used to be the #1 import from Italy for several years, but has since been surpassed by Cavit Pinot Grigio. It is one of the only red wines you should serve chilled

  6. ripple

  7. Go to a local grocery liquor store and ask for a nice Cabernet in the $20.00 range...you'll be fine.

There are hundreds...just grab a California Cab and don't sweat it...he'll appreciate the thought more than anything.

  8. a great merlot will work, and it goes very well with many types of food.

cabernets also work, but i think merlot would probably be the best bet.  I hear Kendell Jackson is a good brand that is not too pricey.
