Please recommend any good youth hostels in Paris for a single female traveller!?

I am a UK student with limited budget. I am staying in Paris from jan 3 to jan 6 and am looking for a nice youth hostel. I don't mind staying in hostels that are considered a bit pricy as long as it is 1)somewhat clean, 2) centrally located (must be walking distance to famous sites - it doesn't matter if it takes 20/30 minutes to get to any site) 3) and it's located in a safe and busy area (no sketchy places please). Please let me know if you know any hostel (or know any hostel that i should avoid absolutely)! Thank you!

  1. I stayed in Paris on 30 Euros a night at a nice, clean (but very small) hotel.  Each room had its own shower and bathroom.

I would highly recommend a small hotel vs. a hostel (especially because hostels in Paris have bad reputations).

But you have to do your homework to find a nice/cheap place.  Call your relatives, search internet hotel reviews, look through travel books, etc....

  2. Try these sites:

    http://www.hostels.com/

    http://www.eurotrip.com/

  3. Maisons Internationales de la Jeunesse it des Etudiants provides dormitory accommodations for 18 to 30 year olds - contact at 01 42 74 23 45 or check www.mije.com.

FUAJ is a member of the International Youth Hostel Association and has two hostels in Paris - contact at 01 44 89 87 27 or check www.fuaj.org.

  4. Hi, I recommed the MIJE (Maison Internationl etc etc) like a poster above mentioned. There is one in the Marais (rue de Fourcy) which is clean and has a nice courtyard. I don't know how much it is, but it is in your budget. Happy new year!
