I'm in my 20's and I want maybe an adventure novel? I'm not sure what I want to read but I know I don't want anything science fiction or fantasy. Also I'm not really interested in books that completely revolve around romance. So I guess that leaves historical and adventure, I'm not really interested in mystery unless it's part of the adventure etc.

  1. "Treasure Island" by Robert Lewis Stevenson

"The Thirteenth Tale" by Diane Setterfield

    "Beautiful Lies" by Lisa Unger

  2. Agatha Christie

  3. "People of the Book: A Novel" by Geraldine Brooks

    This is great historical fiction.

"Gone to Soldiers" by Marge Piercy is a great novel centered around women in the second world war.

Adventure novels are mostly contained in the genres science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, and military novels. So I hope you like reading history or war. :)

  4. Well there is a good author that does the tough topics in life and you may enjoy because I myself am not into romance or fantasy. The author's name is Jodi Piccoult and some books that are good to read are My sister's Keeper and Perfect Match. Her books are like 350 pages long and will keep you busy for a bit if you can put it down : )

  5. "In a Sunburned Country," Bill Bryson; funny, about his adventure in Australia.

    "The Long Walk," Slavomir Rawicz.

"The True Story of the Bilderberger Group," Daniel Estulin.

    "Expecting Adam," Martha Beck.

"West with the Night," Beryl Markham.  Hemingway's favorite non-fiction adventure book.

    "Hidden Camera," Zoran Zivkovic.

    "Testimony of Light," Helen Greaves.

"The Masters and Their Retreats," Mark Prophet.

"The Master of Lucid Dreams," Dr. Olga Kharitidi.

"Extraordinary Knowing," Dr. Elizabeth Mayer; a psychology professor at U. C. Berkeley, describes her adventure in detecting what's what after her daughter's harp was stolen, and then recovered.

"Freakonomics," S. Levitt.  Makes good, readable, and entertaining adventure about real life economics.

  6. She's Come Undone - Wally Lamb

I agree with the comment above Jodi Picoult has some fantastic books as well.

  7. Try the FREE website called PagebyPageBooks.com.  There are literally hundreds of books there and all books are in there entirety.  They are classics like Mark Twain, Jack London and you can either find them by author, title or genre of what you might like to read and you can read it right from your home computer without ever setting foot inside the 4 walls of a library.

    It's a pretty cool site.
