  1. can I just ask the 1st answer what those 5000 words words?

lol Im taking mine in oct. and It think its A good diea b/c alot fo my firends waited untill the end of their jr. year and now they basically have to stick with their scores. they only coudl possibly do it one mroe time in oct. b/c they have to start applling. So the more chances the better.

BTW I heard some of the vocab is pretty tough. Hence why i asked for those 5000 words. im willing ot memorize ever one of those to improve my score.

  2. do they even have SATs in september? i think they're in october.

    anyways,

    www.freerice.com

    easy, free, helping.

i would recommend you to get a tutor, though.  but if you don't want a tutor.. learn etymology. that helps A LOT. on my first SATs i got a 1980 and in january i took it for the second time after 80 hrs of tutoring and i got a 2330.. got a perfect on both reading and writing.

    PS

my tutor made me memorize 5000 words in 2 months. they are painful, but really, about 300-400 of them are DEFINITELY going to appear on your test. know them by heart! use them in your everyday life conversation!!

  3. The book that is best for improving your vocabulary is the Barron's SAT prep book (I think it's about $20). It contains a list of 3,500 of the most common difficult vocabulary words on the test, and lots of flash cards.

Freerice.com, and just reading difficult literature with a dictionary are also good ways to build your vocabulary.

    Good luck on your SAT!

NOTE to other answerers: There are SAT test days available in specific states/school districts/schools other than the national test days.

  4. The next SAT offered is on October 4, The deadline to sign up is September 16.  there is no SAT offered in September.
