U need to clarify which co. life insurance policy do u have.  There are different life insurance companies.  U need to go their respective site and quote your policy no. then u can know the status.  Or better still contact their helpline number.

First of all,you've to check whether you're holding a life policy or non-life policy.You've contact information of your insurer on the policy-just make a call,give your details and you'll know your status over phone or go in person to get it.You can visit their web site(look for it on the policy) to get your details which may not be available all the time.

it seems that yours is an LIC policy. Please visit www.licindia.com and register yourself as customer and enroll your policy nos. along with the premium amount. Then you will be able to know the status of your policy online at any point of time.
