You want to go from Sterling, Virginia to somewhere in New Jersey?

If you want to go by train, you'll have to start by getting to Union Station in Washington, DC.  

Being in Sterling, you transportation options are somewhat limited.  The best way is probably to take a Metrobus or a Fairfax Connector bus to one of the Metro train stations, and then a Metro train to Union Station.

From Union Station you'll get on Amtrak to New Jersey.  Amtrak makes several stops in New Jersey, including Trenton, New Brunswick, Metropark and Newark.
