I love the name James, but my brother is called Jamie so that doesn't work!!

I want strong masculine older fashioned type names, sort of like King names or something I suppose!!

Edward - nickname Eddie - is okay, but not a favorite, I don't LOVE it!!

All suggestions are welcome, thanks heaps!!

  4. You might consider a variation of James and use it instead of a nickname.  I love the name Jameson.  Maybe call him Jay or J.J. if you need it shorter?

Names are so personal and the way one person views one is totally different from another's views.  I may see a name as strong, you may see it as sissy.

That being said,  here's a few strong names I like:

    Apollo                                Malcom

    Benjamin                           Maxwell

    Bryson                               Nathaniel

    Crispin                               Samson

    Daniel

Duke (I knew a hot lifeguard with this name :)

    Edison

    Gannon

Also, you can't go wrong with Greek God names!  Very manly

The book I chose to look from is, The Baby Name Wizard.  I LOVED it becuase it didn't define the names so much as explain how society often views the name and what it's related to.  Good luck!

  5. Hoe about:

    Samual (Sam)

    Ian

    Charles (Charlie)

    Henry

Milo (I really like this one, but I realize it's not to everyones taste!)

    Jacob (Jake)

    Hope I helped...Best of Luck!!

  6. Ok-

    "RAJAH"-nickname HAJAR

    "DATU"  -nickname UTAD

"HARI"   -nickname IRAH (pronounced as ERA)

These are Ancient Filipino names for a King...and there are a lot more...consult google.com type ALIBATA or key in the word TAWAG SA MGA SINAUNANG HARI SA PILIPINAS...

  10. hmmm...well theres Demetri, Jensen, Channing, Hayden. and they arent much common....

  11. I like Jeremey and Tyson( coz then you can have ty for short which is cute)

and i like the name taj...although thats probably not a strong name

  12. Hunter, Logan, Alexander, Tyler, Cameron, Brendon all are strong, masculine names.

  13. hmm.. Jacob, Finn, Caleb, William, Oliver.

they sound quite strong to me

I reckon Finn is a gorgeous name

  14. James is a nice name.  I don't any reason why you couldn't call him James.  A lot of babies are named after their fathers or uncles, and it's not even the same name anyway.

    Other kind of King/royal names:

    William

    David

    Richard

    Andrew

    Henry

    Arthur

    Steven/Stephen

  17. Mark

    David

    Eric

    Gray

    Harry

    Jack

    Joseph

  18. I love the name Adam.

If i had a baby boy i would name him that, but i don't :), so you should

  19. If you like the name James, and your brother is Jamie, why not name your child James, and actually call him James.  It's a beautiful name (rather handsome name), is short for spelling it forever, and I know several people who prefer to be called James.
