So would I be correct thinking that anteaters of all types are not included on the list of dangerous and illegal animals?

  1. Anteaters belong to the order Xenarthra, family Myrmecophagidae, and they're not included in that list at all.

    However, that doesn't mean that these animals are not dangerous. I live in Argentina and just about a year ago, a giant anteater killed a young caretaker. It was awful :-(

    EDIT. Yep, it was not a tamandua, but even these, though much smaller, have incredibly powerful claws.

    And they're not easy animals to keep, so good for you that you're researching :-)


  2. You are correct on that list that they are not listed as dangerous(it does mean it is not illegal on some other list).  I do not know why they have a list of dangerous animals separate from other illegal animals.
