take bus or train to chennai and from there you can get n number of buses or trains to go tirupati.  You can book ticket for Private buses near  T.Nagar Bus Depot,Chennai when you reach chennai.

If you have own vehicle, you may go via villupuram, vellore, chithoor to tirupati.

By bus you will alight on villupuram or dindivanam and will pick bus to tirupati.

this is shortest way.
