  1. This is Captain Janeway....my fav.

Star Trek FTW.    Hope to see you all aboard the next generation of Anti-Matter ships.

  2. Space Adventure set in the future - using the same genre as the old westerns.

Space Ship Enterprises travels from planet to planet on a mission of discovery where some type of conflict occurs that must be resolved.

Captain gets the girl, does away with the bad guys, and they fly off to the next adventure.  Lots of techie gadgets.

  3. Truly amazing! I think you should watch it first.

    Some sites:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek

  4. It teaches the fundamental lesson of space travel: Do not wear a red shirt.  But brown pants are OK. For some reason, there is a crisis every fifteen minutes except on the hour, when, most of the time, all prior incidents are resolved.

Set in a Utopian near future, humans have invented technology for faster than light travel and nearly instant matter transmission for short range "beaming".  Humans kick alien butt for no really apparent reason and spread idealistic paradise where ever they go.  Nearly all women are hot, and all the kids are above average.

The show is most popular among the well educated, who on average, are also generally more wealthy than most. Some might label the show's attitude as "progressive".

  5. Farewell to Dr. McCoy (Jackson DeForest Kelley).

  6. Well, it was a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away.  Oh wait that was something else.

Space explorers in the future, and their adventures.  Good science fiction.  Five different TV series (six including the animated).  Books and movies.

  7. Okay, there is a lot to tell!

Star Tek is like a whole universe. There are five TV-series: Original series (TOS) with captain Kirk, Next Generation (TNG) with Picard, Deep Space 9 (DS9), Voyager (VOY) with captain Janeway and the New Star Trek Enterprise series. Besides there are 10 cinema-movies: 6 with captain Kirk and 4 with captain Picard. The oldest series is TOS, placed 2200 and filmed in the 1966/1967. Captain Kirk explores the space with a starship called Enterprise, Mr. Spock is his friend and is not human, but comes from a planet called Vulcan. The 6 movies are setted after the TOS (Star Trek I - The Movie, II  - The Wrath of Khan, III - The Search for Spock, IV - The Voyage Home, V - The Final Frontier, VI - The Undiscovered Country). After that comes the TNG. They have a new Enterprise D and Picard is the captain. They are also the main part of four movies (VII - Generations, VIII - The First Contact, VIIII - Insurrection, V - Nemesis). Next we have Star Trek Deep Space 9, a space station, playing at the same time as TNG. Shortly afterwards and sometimes at the same time as TNG is Voyager with a female captain Kathrin Janeway. They are very far from home and try to get home, which would normally take 70 years. You really should watch that all!!! Most important: Gene Roddenberry - creator of Star Trek!!!

  8. It's been described as Horatio Hornblower in space.

  9. have a look in this site -

    StarTrek.com

Official Star Trek site from Paramount, with news updates about the Star Trek franchise and details about every TV series, movie, and even the animated series.

    www.startrek.com

  10. Can't just tell, you need to watch. The Next Generation is the best.

  11. the human condition, set in space, was gene roddenberry's original idea.

the network rejected the original pilot, about a race whose mental powers had ruined their world, and who thought it perfectly reasonable to kidnap humans to rebuild their world for them. the humans thought otherwise, and number one (played by majel barrett) made it clear they would rather blow themselves to smithereens than be slaves, no matter how pleasant that slavery might be. the original pilot is lost, but pieces were edited in to a later episode ("the menagerie").

the climax of the second pilot had captain kirk in a fist fight with a crewman who had developed telepathic powers. this was more like it, and the network went for it.

  12. Star Trek is a vast franchise that spans over 40 years of Television shows, feature films, novels, internet sites, games, and more,

Your question needs to be more specific: Are you looking for information on the latest Movie scheduled for theatrical release in May 2009? Do you want to know what the franchise is about?  Etc.

The Star Trek movie (Star Trek XI) is very secretive project and not much is known other than the cast.
