Question:

Please tell me an effective way to ttrain for the long jump over the summer?

I'm a freshman and i get 17ft 5in. in the long jump. i want a way that I can get 19ft or more by next spring.

  1. train at your sprints and remember to lift yourself with all you got when you hit the board and you should get there :D

  2. Work on ur form while jumping..... if u could go to the school and practice in the sand pit.... practice throwing ur arms and legs forward.... im telling u it will def. help.... and also just running and getting faster will help....

  3. When I was in track, we used to go over to the bleachers at our football field and practice hopping up and down the bleachers with one leg, and switch off each time.  That was a great way to strengthen calf muscles and helps you explode when you first push off the board on the long jump.  Also, if you have access to a gym, calf raises are helpful.  I agree with the previous poster, practicing form is very important.  Good luck!
