Let's imagine we are at a point in space that allows us to look (in a diagram sense, if you will) at the earth in it's orbit around the sun. And also that our viewpoint is along a line or ray extending along the north/south axis of the earth. (In other words, to clarify, we launched from the earth's north pole and just kept going til we could look back and see the earth orbiting the sun....silly idea, but it makes the point). So.. .I would say that as we view the earth, we would see it spinning/ rotating around it's axis in a COUNTER CLOCKWISE direction. Am I correct? Also I would say that we would see the earth revolving around the sun also in a COUNTER CLOCKWISE direction. Am I correct?

  1. Yep and yep.

  2. Yes, counter clockwise from the North.  This is also called "right hand rule".  If you point your right hand's thumb up, the fingers curl left.

  3. I think we will see the Earth spinning  opposite to clockwise but rotate clockwise as to the SUn?
