Please tell me more about Venice, Italy?

There's a prom night 2 months away, the theme is Venice. I've been chosen to design the booklet. Can anyone tell me more about Venice so I can have some ideas?

By the way, what is the people that wearing mask called? About the festival and the mask?

I live near Venice.  The Venice carnival is known all over the world. The masks are really beautiful and people from every part of the world come to see. The people wearing masks are called "figuranti".

Italy is the most beautiful country in the world, after USA of course.

In italian Venice is called Venezia.

The obvious things to include in your design are gondolas, bridges, maybe a backdrop of St Mark's and the Doge's Palace or the Bridge of Sighs.

Carnevale in Venice is special. I go every year for the weekends. (I live two hours from Venice). The Three Marias procession is an important event and the Flight of the Angel where a minor celebrity in an angel costume "flies" from the top of the tower in St Mark's Square to the ground next to the Doge's Palace is one of the most interesting. The Doge and his court are always in attendance at this one.
