  1. Growth hormone is one of a battery of hormones that serves to maintain blood glucose within a normal range.

    Growth hormone is said to have 'anti-insulin' activity, as it can supress the ability of insulin to stimulate the uptake of glucose into peripheral tissues and enhance glucose synthesis in the liver.

    Paradoxically, if you were to administer growth hormone, it would stimulate insulin secretion, leading to hyperinsulinemia.
