I saw these trees with purple flowers in California. Does anyone know the name of this beautiful tree?

  1. It's called the Jacaranda and they are really pretty when they bloom.  They are often planted along a street and the entire street will turn purple.

    Some years are better than others.  Every so often, they bloom just a little.

    There are white ones too, but they are really rare.  I have never seen them bloom as well as the purple.  I've only seen a few of the white ones, and never a whole row of them.

    They also have nice feathery leaves through the most of the year.  There are many of them throughout southern California, and many nice ones in Pasadena.

    Yes, they are nice trees, and that's a nice photo!


  2. It's a Jacaranda. They're beautiful from a distance, but messy up close.
