  1. you can buy the descaler from  boots it already mixed up so you don't have to worry about how much to use

  2. Hi, get the descaler from boots specially for the steriliser and you just pour it in andrun a cycle and then run a normalcycle with waer after to get rid of any left over liquid. But they have instructions on them any way , its pretty simple Good luck.

  3. i always use citric acid in both my steriliser and my kettle. Use about 4-5 teaspoons of powder, about a pint of water and let it boil for a bit, switch it off for about 30mins to an hour, then put it back on for another 10 mins or so.

You'll find you don't even need to clean it, just rinse it well and all the limescale should be gone.

    I swear by the stuff.

  4. As others have said, viniger is the thing I've read about as a general descaler.

But what I wanted to add was this is why we use distilled water in our sterilizer and bottol warmer.  They've both been through two babies and havn't had to clean them once (we have very hard water here).

I don't know how much water your sterilizer uses, but for the Avent microwave version we have, it only requires 7oz.  Given that distilled water is around $1 per gallon, seems like money well spent for us.

  5. Vinegar and water works awesome. We use it for our kettle all the time.

  6. We used acetic acid (vinegar) to descale ours, put all the parts in and filled it with both the acid and vinegar and left it to soak for a day.

When we washed it, all the chalk came right off.
