Collect recyclables like paper, water bottles and pop cans.  See how you can collect and make a presentation that your school made a difference and collected recyclables that won't end up in the landfill.  Some people need to "see" that they can make a difference.  See if you can get a couple recycle trucks at your school and everyone pitch in to clean up.

Well, for Earth Day most people get involved in "planting" something.  There also is the "Great America Cleanup" in May, you could get a group to pick up a section of roadway.

Search for "great america cleanup" on the web to get started.

I'm the President of a watershed Asscociation and what I'd like to see students do is:  start coming up with ideas for "actively" treating AMD or Acid Mine Drainage.  We have a huge problem in Pa, and W. VA, there will be money coming into the state for projects, but we need "new" ideas, and really workable designs.  Get some of your "engineer" types and "bio" students to work together, maybe you would come up with and idea?  This is a great area for young scientists to get moving in!  I would love to see the day the kids who live in these poor, small towns could actually fish in the waters they live near.
