I wrote this for my daughter - who turns 5 today - it's something I'm going to put away and give to her when the time is right......

We both love you, and

We both have hopes and dreams for your future.

She carried you i n her body for nine months;

I carried you in my dreams for 5 years

She laboured through birth

I laboured through sleepless nights, skinned knees and bad dreams.

She is nature;

I am nurture.

She wonders if you are healthy;

I spend the night awake with you wondering when your fever will go down.

She wonders if you have enough to eat;

I wonder how I'm going to get you to eat your broccoli.

She wonders if you are happy;

I love hearing you giggle.

She wonders if you are loved;

My hearts melts with every smile and breaks with every tear I soothe.

She wonders what you look like;

I proudly display your picture for all to see.

She hopes you get a good education;

I teach you your ABC's.

She wonders what you'll be like;

I teach you to be strong, independent, and brave.

She wonders if you'll marry and have children;

I listen to you talk about when you'll grow up and have your own kids.

She gave you life;

I am grateful to her every day that you are a part of my life.

She will always wonder about you;

I will always be thankful to her for bringing you into this world.

She will always be your biological mother;

I will always be mummy.

  1. You did an awesome job mom, and make sure you state that you love her, and that you were like an incomplete puzzle until she came and fit into that perfect spot that was her angelic outline as an infant.

    You might mention and do a heart memory book with all the things from the hospital they would let you have and the precious things that made her her. her first tooth, crawling, and scooting and pulling herself up on the coffee table, etc. with pictures and dates. Plus how you felt with each part of growing up. God Bless you mommy

  2. Teach her also that it's important to be independant

    but it's important to have good friends in her life.

    Mummy now, but later bye bye hopefully mother

    will understand her daughter has her own life to live.

  3. It's really sweet. I'm sure your daughter will be touched. But your daughter may not grow to be as nice as when she grows up,as her behaviour might change.(No offence)
