Right, my Belkin 54g modem router is located on the ground floor of my house and normally, my wireless belkin wireless stick will pick up the signal no problem from my room on the first floor. i have never had a problem with it before.

But last night, i was on the internet working and it just went dead on me. the green light on the router which indicates internet went off and i could not re-connect it from my room. This pissed me off and i could not even connect wirelessly from my room. So, today i have brought my pc downstairs to recconect it and it did.

Then i tested my wireless and it worked. you knew it was picking up the signal because it said. But, it won't go past the stage of "Acquring Network Address..." i have left it ten mintues and it was still on this stage. What do you think the problem is? PLEASE TRY AND ANSWER.

  1. did you press the reset button on the router because the small wireless routers always seem to get all plugged up after a while of use so they always seem to need a reset once in a while

  2. OK here it goes first things first if you took the advice of one the guys and pressed the reset button you have wiped out all your settings and user name and password etc on your router and set it back to factory settings as when you first got it, this will need to be setup again using a the RJ45 network cable.

If this already done your need to restart you computer and also restart your laptop,  see if this sorts the ip address out,

Some times with problem like these instead of trying to solve the problem its best to start right from scratch i.e when you first got every thing reinstall every thing and setup

  3. try..

1 right click on the network icon in the task-bar

    2 connect to a network

    3 right click your router

    4 properties

5 connection tab > tick all the box's

  4. my isp told me to do this......unplug your modem and router and turn off the wireless devices then replug in everything then start up your wireless devices again.....it helped me

  5. Mine does this frequently while I'm in the same room as the router. I unplug it for 5 minutes, plug it back in and it solves it for me. Might be worth a try

  6. As two others have already answered, unplug your router and your modem every night before you go to bed. I started off leaving them both plugged in overnight and I had similar problems to what you are having. Now I always unplug them both  every night and I haven't had any problems since I started doing this.
