  1. The EASIEST thing for me was to hang on to the wall ,gain speed push off,and i was on a roll, I even look at the figure skaters there and learn the tricks INSTENTLY! But don't worry, try to go around the rink ATLEAST one time! If you're not that good , it's not that big of a deal,it takes TONS of practice!

  2. Probably a lot of people that are going aren't that good at ice-skating either.

You can try practicing before the party at the rink, during their public sessions.

A good tip would be to keep you balance.  As a new skater, you should keep your hands out in front of you so you don't fall.

Also be sure to wear warm clothes and thick socks.

If you fall, just get up and shake it off.  Keep trying!

When you fall, try to fall on your butt.  It might sound funny, but that's the way you do it.  Don't land on your knees, because it will really hurt.

When you skate, pretend you're on a scooter.  Do "Scooter pushes."  It really helps when you are learning to skate.

    Good luck!

  3. Find out when they have open ice times and go there and practice.

  4. its actually not too hard... if  youve rollerbladed before its kinda like that.

just try to glide and go at your own speed

  5. Just some tips would be to bring a pair of gloves and maybe some waterproof or warm pants-- you'll be falling a lot on your first try :P but that's normal so don't worry.

  6. don't worry too much. if they are inviting everyone in your homeroom, chances are that a lot of other people will never have ice skated either. once on the ice, you will probably get the hang of it pretty quickly.

however, if it's important to you to practice before the party, most rinks have public skating sessions that you could go to to get used to the feel of the ice.

if you can roller blade, it's a tremendous help in learning to ice skate, and I would recommend that you practice (climate permitting) before the party.

but even if you can't do any of these things for one reason or another, you will probably be fine at the party. it's  a lot of fun to go skating for the first time with people you know, who also are going for the first time.

(note: wear clothes that you can move in and dress in layers on top so you can take off your sweater/jacket/whatever when you get too warm. a pair of thin knit gloves are also a good idea. and if you are renting skates, please don't wear ankle socks because most rental skates will hurt the back of an unprotected ankle.)

good luck and have fun skating!

  7. Practice before the party

It took me about 3 weeks to become okay...

Also if you go with friends its more better cause they can help

  8. Its really easy you'll get used to it the first day (the day of the party). Of course your going to fall but hey the the funnest part of it. Not everyone in the class is going to scate  maybe :-)

  9. You dont have to learn. Not everyone who is invited will be able to skate. Dont spoil the day by trying to go before hand, or you will get so bored at the party. Just wait and see like everyone else.

  10. u don't have to worry about it just have some fun. is not hard if you know how to skate outside the ice you can skate on ice.

  11. roller blade

    ice skating is really easy

  12. You know what is interesting about this question, this exact scenario is how I got into ice skating and stuck with it and now it is my main sport! I love ice skating!!!! Before I went to the party I had my dad (or you can have a friend or someone you like) take you to go skating at a public session at your local rink. Skate around a few times. You will suffer a few falls but if you skate for a while you will eventually be decent enough to survive the party and not be skidding ALL OVER the ice!!!!!! Just find a session to go and practice and you will pick it up quick. If you have good balance already you should pick it up even quicker! Don't worry...just have fun! You will be fine. It doesnt take that long to learn to stroke around the rink. U will b fine! (Anyway whether you learn to skate or not, I'm sure their will be at least one other person who doesnt know how to skate at the party). Who knows...maybe you will start competing and become a skater like i did! (It really is a fantastic sport!)

Good Luck and Have A Great Time!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. 1. Don't practice on rollerblades. They have nothing in common, AT ALL!

    2. When you get there, ask for hocky skates. They are easyer to skate in.

    3. Just have fun, its not like you need to do jumps.

    4. To skate, do little marching steps.

  14. Can you roller blade?

It's kind of similar if you know how, it'll help.

You can also go to public sessions before

that party so that you can practice.

Or, you can just learn at the party, it doesn't

take that long to learn, you should be sliding

around in less than 30 minutes :)

    Good luck :]

  15. You can learn that day! Don't worry about it.

  16. ice skating is not something u learn fast, trust me. it takes practice!!! ive been skating 4 2 yrs and im only on the pre pre level!!!! ask ur friends to give u some pointers, and stick with them so u dont feel alone or be embarrassed when u fall. believe me u wont be the only one falling!!!
