This is hard, because Evan is my boyfriend's name, so I'm partial to it, but I love the name Shaun; this was the way I want to spell it if I use it. I think I'd go with Shaun though.

caden means gentle

alexander means defending.

I love the name Evan. (my sons name, he is 8) and it sounds adorable with Brandon.

I will probably get several thumbs down for this but Caden is far too common where I live so I personally would not use it.  I liked it about 5 years ago but now it seems like everyone around me is naming their child something that ends with -aden or -ayden.  ie. Jaiden, Jayden, Kaden, Kayden, Caden, Ayden, Aiden, Hayden, Brayden, etc.  So as long as you don't mind your son going to school with several other boys and girls with the same name or something similar then I would stay away from the names that rhyme with Aiden.  Then again I am from Seattle so it may not be the same case where you live.

There is nothing wrong with Adam but it is kind of boring.

Shaun is a cute name no matter what age.
