I need advice please..it turns out i got a 7 gears city bike and i am not strong and able to ride when it takes alot of effort..now i am trying to figure out if i should regret this badly since i generally want to travel far with hills inside the city..will i regret not getting 24 gears when having to climb uphill,24 and 21 gears sounds like so much more power i means its 3 and 4 times more speed isnt it?i was offered 24 and chose this had no idea its actually 7 only please tell me how much i will be sorry when it will come to going uphill in the city?..i want to understand the significance of the decision i made?..

  1. No it doesn't mean more speed...

    More gears means you have a much broader range of efficiency. For example, have 7 gears (1 chainring and 7 rear sprockets) means you'll most likely findi it harder to climb a hill than someone with 21 gears (2 chainrings - 1 being smaller than the first and 7 rear sprokets)
