When I was a juvenile, I plead guilty to assault in the 4th degree. Part of that plea bargain meant that I would give up my rights to possess a firearm. They told me that in order to get my right to own a firearm back, I would need to go back to court. Now, it;s been so long, I can't really remember the exact nature of the right I gave up. Did it take away my right to get a concealed weapons permit, or did it take away my right to purchase a firearm? If I were to attempt to purchase one at a gun store, would it show up that I'm not allowed to? What is the process of going back to court to regain my right to own a firearm? They told me the process back then, but it's been so long that I forgot.
I had my juvenile record sealed a few months ago, if that matters, and no, your juvenile record is not cleared automatically when you're 18, at least not in my state. I had to go back to court to get it cleared. It stays with you for life if you don't get it sealed yourself.
