Plenty to like about Debating Society in Follow Us on Twitter @LingfieldPark Handicap
Sir Michael Stoute’s 3-year-old rampant colt, Debating Society, will rightly prove popular after his fresh maiden victory at Epsom. He made a few fine races in defeat early in the season, as luck continued to turn against his favour.
The son of Invincible Spirit finally got it right last week, when finishing on top of the table in the Racing Post Weekender Out Every Wednesday Handicap (Betfair 10 Furlong Flat Series Qualifier).
Owned by Ballymacoll Stud, the bay colt looks to be in good shape, and the bettors have a lot of reasons to take a chance on him in the Follow Us on Twitter @LingfieldPark Handicap, being held at Lingfield on Wednesday, September 05, 2012.
Debating Society started off this season on a good note. The audience at Yarmouth saw him finding only Falcon In Flight too powerful in the Burlington Palm Hotel Maiden Stakes in April.
Although he completely failed to make an impression on the winner, his performance was good enough to earn him the runner-up spot by four lengths.
On good to firm, he is going to face seven rivals in today’s class 4 meeting. The race will be run over one mile and two furlongs, and the champion will leave the field with £4,075. The officials are due to kick off the action at 16:30 GMT.
Debating Society seems to have an obvious chance, but there is a lot to talk about the manner in which Estebsaal registered his first victory last month. The 3-year-old performed magnificently on his opening two outings, but remained unlucky.
Trained by John Dunlop, the bay colt finally swayed things in his favour in mid August, when he proved too good for his opponents in the Double M Catering Challenge Maiden Stakes at Nottingham. A step up in class might become an issue, but the way he did
the trick last time, it is very hard to underestimate him.
Mawhub is also coming off an impressive win, but the real contest will be between Debating Society and Estebsaal. Both are big players, but our vote is for Debating Society. Good luck to all the horses.
