Pletcher unveiled his barns future in the Gulfstream Park meet
Trainer Todd Pletcher is flying high in this year’s Gulfstream Park meet which opened a month earlier than usual on 3 December, 2011, having already won 9 races in just 10 days into the meet. The veteran trained has enjoyed success with his runners, and
he is not hesitant to show off his 2-year-olds, wh are expected to make a lot of noise in the coming winter.
He is looking forward to giving his rampant 2-yeara-old,Discreet Dancer, a quick start as he didn’t waste any time showcasing his young talent after he won his debut race at first asking at Gulfstream Park on the opening day, when the juvenile colt kicked
off proceedings with a massive nine lengths wine over the statebred maiden and in the process earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 100.
Todd Pletcher brought back his 2-year-old son of Bernardini colt, Algorithms, back in action after a six month layoff to participate in the six and a half furlong long allowance test, who remained unbeaten in 2 in as many starts.
Pletcher closed out his big weekend, by introducing 2-year-old More Than Ready colt, in a maiden special weight race, and the colt won a flat mile with emphatic style.
“We had a good run this summer with all our horses, including the first group of 2-year-olds to come ready this year but after Saratoga we hit a little lull, especially with the young horses,” said Pletcher. “Once we got down here with the second bunch,
it seemed like we had a pretty good group the way they were training at Palm Meadows and so far that’s the way it’s turned out.”
Ciao Bella was unveiled in a maiden special weight race as well, the 2-year-old filly also won her race for Pletcher, going over a distance of 1 mile.
“She turned in a most professional effort,” said Pletcher, referring to Ciao Bella. “This filly got some dirt in her face, climbed a little bit, got a good education, and won to boot.”
It was an eye catching seven and a half length win by Ciao Bella, unleashing a steady and powerful run in the stretch.
