Before all goes quiet
And they sprinkle on my box the earth
I’ll stare at the blanket
You call your sky
Before my eyes close
And will tell not a lie
But glare with emptiness
At the carpet on which is built our lair
That if life shall a question pause
And my soul, death cleave from bone
I’ll forever in the thought dwell
I did in your heart belong
I thank you for your kindness
And wish to keep me well
Everyday, with you, was a learning curve
Now I know how to love
And how to hate too
I know to live like a king
One has to be like a slave
And so with wat the best can please
If you should one day feel the need to leave
Hold your feet not to halt
For I tread not with fear of what we may be without
But hope of what may be found
