Pliskova sisters reign on Cepelova/ Husarova in quarterfinals – Slovak Open 2011
Top seeded Czech sisters Karolína Plíšková with Kristýna Plíšková dominated Slovakian couple Jana Čepelová with Janette Husárová in the quarterfinals of the Slovak Open 2011.
The Národné Tenisové Centrum hosted the challenge between the two squads on indoor hard courts in Bratislava, Slovakia and it took the top seeded Czech couple only one hour and eleven minutes to prevail over the Slovakian couple by thrashing them in straight sets of 7-6(5), 6-3 on Thursday the 17th of November 2011.
The first set of the match was the most exciting part as Čepelová/ Husárová kept on bouncing back against the top seeded Czech sisters. The Slovakian couple was serving first; had smashed two aces, zero double faults and they won one out of five breakpoints.
On the contrary, the Czech sisters played the match with great enthusiasm and managed to stick out the first set. They not only had a good return but a superb service game and bagged a 72 percent of their first serves. Although, they were only able to capitalize on one out of four breakpoints, they still managed to save 80 percent of their breakpoints. The top seeded duo played a superb match giving them a 1-0 lead against Čepelová/ Husárová.
The set was a close duel between both the players as each had managed to hold their respective serves for the first ten games and the score had tied at five games each. As the teams matched a blow for a blow the two crews traded in breaks during the eleventh and twelfth game this shoved the set into a tiebreaker.
The cat and mouse chase carried well into the tiebreaker and once more the two squads matched an eye for an eye and they score tied at five points each for the last time. As the Top seeds broke their adversary they capitalized on a breakpoint and with a hold of serve clinched the tiebreaker at 7-5.
The second set of the match was also inaugurated by Čepelová/ Husárová but in the first two games the crews exchanged breaks to place themselves on the scoreboard at 1-1. At the end of the fourth game the score had levelled at two games each.
It was in the fifth game that the Slovakian duo double faulted and endorsed a breakpoint to their adversaries, who then held their serve in the following game to take a mini lead. By the end of the sixth game the Pliskova sisters were leading with two games.
Subsequently, in the next two games the players once more matched a blow for a blow by holding their respective serves and the score had progressed to 5-3 with the Czech sisters leading the set. As t hey smashed a backhand winner down the line, they secured their victory of the set and the match.
Top seeded pair managed to reserve a berth in the semi final of the event where they will be facing another Slovakian couple of Zuzana Luknarova with Michaela Honcova.
