Plot summary of memoirs of a geisha?

Basically it tell the story of an unlike fishermans daughter who gets sold to an okiya to be raised and taught as a geisha. She goes through arch trials with her atagonist Hatsumomo who is a geisha who lives in the same okiya. She also has a love interest but is torn from what she wants and the duty of a geisha. It also goes through the time period of world war two.

It is a very touching and fun book and is still one of my favorite books to read over and over.

I love it mostly because it really tells the life of what a geisha goes thru and the truth that they are not prostitutes.

completely agree with answer number1 and you have to read the book, the film in comparison is terrible, but the book has got to one of the best ive read
