  1. She probably needs to be on some antibiotic. Call the doctor.

  2. you've waited 5 days you still havent brought the child to a pediatrician? what if the child already has pneumonia, or severe infection? if the fever lasts for more than 3 days--- you have to bring him to the doctor.

  3. How old is this child? A normal temperature can range from 98.6 to 101 and still be within normal. How are you taking the temp? Is it oral or tympanic or axillary? You'll get different readings depending on where you take the temp and when. A temp is higher in the evenings than it is in the mornings. What is her behavior like? Is she acting happy and normal? If she is, I wouldn't be concerned, but if she acts ill and lethargic, and just completely out of character then you should just take her in to the doctor.

    Good luck!

  4. Any child with a fever that lasts for more than 3 days, or who has another symptom in addition to the fever (sore throat, cough, etc) should be seen by a doctor. It is that simple.

Tylenol doesn't fix the cause of the fever, it just makes the fever go away for awhile.  The infection, or whatever is causing the fever,  is still there.

Get your sister to a doctor.  Your parents should know better.

  5. Hmm.  I don't know if you know this already or not, but her temperature, at 102, is almost on the brink of dangerous.

And, are you sure it's a normal fever?  Just speaking from experience, no one in my family has ever had a fever for that long...

    Keep her drinking and resting!

Sorry, I really don't know what else to say...  good luck!

  6. this isn't a fever to worry about.  treat with advil, don't overdress the child, and give her lotsa fluids -including popsicles.

  7. you need to get her butt to the ER......her fever goes down cuz of the meds, you need to find out what is causing the fever....she may have an infection or something

  8. Before you rush to the emergency room, call the your sister's doctor, or the triage at your local hospital and tell them what's been going on with your sister. I've been told that most doctors don't see patients unless their fever goes past 103 and usually they are fine with motrin or tylenol. If there are other symptoms besides just the fever then she may need to be seen, but definately call first.

By the way, a fever of 102 isn't that dangerous. It becomes extremely critical if the fever goes past 104.

  9. Call her doctor.
