  1. Swords, bokken, shinai, and most importantly Kendo Armor (very expensive).

  2. Dom B,

If you find your previous question, I also answered there, so repeating the question doesn't really need to be done.

As the same response in your same question from an hour before this one, to do kendo what you need is:

    Kendo Hakama - the trousers

    Kendo Keikogi - the jacket

    Shinai - the bamboo sword.

Once your sensei, from whichever dojo you attend tells you that you are ready for it, you are then able to get a set of the kendo armour called the Bogu.

    The bogu consists of:

    Men - the helmet

    Do - torso plate

    Kote - wrist/hand gloves

Tare - waist and groin protector.

You will then also need a tenugui (headcloth) to go with it all.

Having done wado rhu has nothing to do with Kendo, and I don't think is really relevant with your question since they are completely different types of martial art, and being a 2nd kyu also won't help you much at all.

First, find a dojo in your area, East London you said?  Do a google search or find the England/British Kendo association/organisation and ask for details if there is one near you.  Then talk to the people there for more detail about equipment.

If you are weighing up the costs before hand, to get a ok set of hakama and gi, it is ~$100 AUD, a shinai is ~$40 AUD, and a cheap (and nasty) set of bogu will set you back about ~$400 AUD, while a high end quality bogu will cost ~$1200+ AUD.  My bogu was custom made for $2300 AUD.

I hope this answers you in more detail.

Asking your question more than once doesn't really help either.
