Pls describe the manifest and latent functions of education.?

Can you provide some examples from your college or university?

Manifest: 1) Socialization, 2) Cultural Transmission,

3) Academic Skills and 4) Innovation.

Latent: 1) Child Care and 2) Postponing Job Hunting.

Latent:

- University system creates a bubble for people with useless degrees (women's studies, minority studies, etc.).  The real world has no use for these degrees, but the academic system gives people a chance to use their degree and get paid.

- The university system allows people with no first-hand  experience of a subject to teach about a subject.

  

Example:  when I was getting my criminology degree, I took classes in the criminal justice system, prison system, and juvenile delinquency.  But the professors who taught these courses have never worked in law enforcement, never worked in a prison, nor worked in juvi hall.
