  1. Conditions

This market will be settled according to the official result on the day. In the event of non-runners our rules relating to Rule 4 deductions may apply. The Place element of your EACH WAY bet will be settled according to the number of places determined by the number of selections who actually participate. The general place terms are shown below. Deduction factors will only apply to any horses removed from the market AFTER you have placed your bet(s). This market will remain open until the OFF.

    Place terms

    Handicap Race:

4 Places if 16 runners or more - 1/4 odds

3 Places if more than 11 runners and less than 16 runners - 1/4 odds

3 Places if more than seven runners and less than 12 runners - 1/5 odds

2 Places if more than four runners and less than eight runners - 1/4 odds

This is a copy (and paste) of their rules, which is different from Betfair in so far as the number of runners in a Betfair market is the number declared to run rather than the number actually participating.

Neither company has an adequate policy for dealing with Reserves, in either win or place bets, so, if you bet (rather than lay) on these events, beware, because, as a backer, you will get a deduction for a defection but no minus deduction for a new runner.

Fortunately Reserves do not apply in UK racing apart from in the Shergar Cup but sometimes do figure in Ireland.

  2. e/w = each way, win or place bet
