I am taking him for speech therapy & special education.Sometimes he just jabbers & nothing that we can understand. He hates to write & lacks self-confidence alot.Needs lots of help to complete a given task but we also strongly suspect that he is lazy too.Even playing, he has his own ways of playing with his toys. But he has a brilliant memory,he loves to read & loves to work on the computer but just keeps clicking the mouse without really doing the required task.I need to know if there are any parents out there who had this sort of experince and i need advice on how to really tackle this situation. His speech therapist says its nothing serious.

  1. Speech is a very difficult activity to learn... it is amazing so many do it so well (some better than others).

The fact that he's having a difficult time forming sentences may have nothing to do at all with his mental capacity, but may be due to all sorts of possible reasons. My point being, it is possible that there is something that is holding him back that can be corrected.

I strongly suggest that you take him to a speech therapist who can accurately diagnose him, provide you with some information (rather than you wondering if he's just "slow"), and perhaps provide some therapy that will help him develop his speech.

    Best of luck!

  2. He may catch up later, a lot of kids do, and completely surprise everyone. But if you are concerned about your son, you should be seeing a pediatrician, not asking questions on Yahoo Answers.
