the question is there is a 275 ft. of material to fence a pen w/ 3 rectangular sections next to each other & 1 side is the wall. Find the dimensions of the pen of largest area.

    So divide the 275 by three to make the three sides of a square. So 91.6666.  or 91 and 2/3 feet.   91 feet 8 inches would be the length of each fence.

    So I picture it as 3 rectangular section place side by side with one side the wall.

    This means that they have the same Width and Length.

    Given:

    Length of the fence = 275 ft

    Assumed the Length is twice the Width ← Eq 1

    Peremeter = 2Width x  Length ← Eq 2 (note the other side is wall)

    Peremeter = 2(Length/2) x  Length

    Peremeter = (Length)²

    Length = √ Peremeter

    Length = √ 275

    Length = 16.58 ft

    from EQ 1

    Length = 2 Width

    Width = Length/2

    Width = 16.58/2

    Width = 8.29 ft

    Dimension of Pin for Combine Area = Length  x  Width

    Dimension of Pin for Combine Area = 16.58  x  8.29

    Ans:: Dimension of Pin for Combine Area = 137. 45 sq ft

    The Individual Area = 137.45 / 3
