we are a group of indians staying in west africa , recently a community member passed away and all of us were ignorant of the correct procedure to be adopted for the funeral . kindly describe elaborately and assist to understand correctly

I am sorry for the incidence, I am hindu bramhin, When my dad died, he was carried on a bamboo ladder (to understand in english) with nine steps, bed made with Jawar / Rice paddy, both thumbs tied wit sisal, and Pan or Beeda, in his mouth, and red silk shawl to cover his body after a bath and changed cloth, then lifted by 4 people changing hands (this is rite, to shoulder the dead body gives you blessings) then taken to the funeral place on shoulders exchanged, once reached the body was kept on a Katta (pedestal) with his head towards east, all flowers and offerings were there outside the criminatory, there every offering was removed and taken him on fire deck, as a elder son I should not see his dead body once on deck, my younger brother, stacked fire wood, then an earther pot on my right shoulder with water was to do the pradikshana, every round, one hole was made by stone, and I was told to drop from the shoulder backwerds without turning, then the fire was given to the stack, and I was made to sit again at the same place where I dropped the earthern pot, then the body buexyrnt, at a certain time people started living, then I was asked to have a bath, and we went home, next day we went again to collect the ashti (remains of the burnt Bones), which after pooja we drowned in a river, and for 10 days, we all family groomed the sadness, on 14th day we all had arranged food and a farewell lunch for all the groomers with sweet and every body started the regular routin except me th3e elder son, who has to quit the best dish my dad liked for 1 year.
