Plug a regular house outlet into a car outlet?

I'm going to Canada with my family and i want to take my laptop with me but i need to charge it so is there anyway to charge it in the car??

I have the regular outlet for my house so do they sell something that can change the regular house outlet into a car outlet??

  1. The least expensive way is to get the car charger from the dealer who sells the laptop you own.  In fact there would be one listed in your owners manual.  That would solve the problem as long as you are charging from the car cigarette lighter.  If you want to charge your laptop from a Canadian outlet which is probably 220 volts, that will require a different charger.  It should also be available from the manufacturer of the laptop.

    ebay has universal adapters for these purposes, but you have to be careful to get the correct one so you don't toast your batteries.


  2. Yes, it is called a power inverter.  You can get one at Walmart.com for about $60.  There are less expensive but you will have to check to see if they will be able to charge your laptop.
