What does WOT mean when doing a plug chop?

  1. Yes - A 'plug chop' is usually done flat out, wide open throttle, then pull in the clutch & kill the ignition switch. You can then whip the plugs out & see how the engine runs.

    In over twenty years of messing about with cars & bikes, I've never understood the benefit of it at all! It's supposed to determine how the engine's running at a particular carb opening - in your case, WOT, but shouldn't really be of any use unless your carbs are poorly set up or incorrectly jetted.

    You shut off the ignition while running wide open. When you pull the plugs afterwards you can see the condition of the plugs and that will  tell more about your fuel settings.
