Plugged my ps3 in at

Plugged my ps3 in at a friends house. when i went to plug in the tv connections, the power cord melted. now the console comes on for 1 second and off again. the fans blow then off, red lights flashing. Its a 60gb release date console so warranty done. How do i avoid 168.00 sony bill
