Plum Pretty sent off as the 2 to 1 favourite for the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic
Peachtree Stable’s 3-year-old filly Plum Pretty heads the 9 other fillies for the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic and the Bob Baffert trained filly is sent off as the 2 to 1 morning line favourite for the race.
Despite the presence of Royal Delta, Ask the Moon, Ultra Blend and It’s Tricky, the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty gets the nod ahead of them all.
The Pennsylvania bred daughter of Medaglia d’Oro, out of Liszy by A.P. Indy, Plum Pretty is coming off a wire to wire run in the Grade 2 Fitz Dixon Cotillion on the Parx Racing’s dirt course on 1 October, 2011, under jockey Rafael Bejarano at about 1 1/16
miles.
Plum Pretty was able to hold off It’s Tricky in the dying stages of the race and Daring Reality who finished third in the race, while Plum Pretty was able to top the 1 1/16 mile distance in 1 minute and 41.19 seconds.
She finished 4th in the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes at Saratoga in August, over at 1 ¼ miles. Royal Delta and It’s Tricky her Ladies’ Classic rivals got the better of her in that race, while Royal Delta, the winner, finished the mile and quarter distance
in 2 minutes and 3.13 seconds.
That was the worst she finished this season, while she finished as a winner twice, runner up twice and rolled in third twice this season.
The 3-year-old Bill Mott trained filly, Royal Delta is sent off as the second choice on the morning line. The daughter of Empire Maker, out of Delta Princess by A.P. Indy, Royal Delta will break from post number six.
She is coming off a second place finish in the Grade 1 Beldame Stakes behind the fantastic filly Havre de Grace at Belmont Park on 1 October, 2011, over at 1 1/8 miles on dirt.
However, she showed he class and talent back in August when she participated and won the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes over at 1 ¼ miles under her regular jockey J Lezcano with the winning time of 2 minutes and 3.13 seconds.
