We are having a new water tank fitted tomorrow. Obviously the plumber will need access to the loft and the airing cupboard but where else will they need access too? We have sinks in the bedrooms, will they need access to every sink in the house? Thanks xx

  1. They should only need access to the lowest taps to drain the water off.

  2. Just the loft if that is where your water tank fits. There are only 3 pipes going into the tank, an inlet bringing water in, and an outlet taking water out. The outlet pipe will have feeder pipes coming off it going to different sinks etc. Then an overflow pipe.

  3. They will need acess to all the hot taps to purge air from the pipes when the installation is finished.

  4. He will need access to all taps so he can make sure all air is removed from the system.

  5. he will want access to all taps to make sure there is no airlock its just a matter of making sure the water is flowing not to do any work on it

  6. He will need to turn off the water supply to the loft and drain away the water from the tank he can do that best from the bath or if no bath any sink. He should not need access to other than the main bathroom or kitchen.
